Letter: Mansfield Democratic Committee members support Naughton

To the editor:
This letter is sent in support of Claire B. Naughton for State Representative in the Special Election to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006. We all know Claire, some of us for more than 20 years. She is approachable, outgoing, hard working and enthusiastic. But it is her stance on the issues most important to our families and communities that make her the best choice for State Representative.
Claire served as a public school teacher for more than 30 years. She is in a unique position to know that we have to do more to keep our schools strong. She knows we must bring more state aid to our local schools to keep classes small and recruit, train and retain high quality teachers. Over the past few years the state has cut back funding dramatically. We know Claire Naughton will fight to restore and increase these resources.
Claire knows that our healthcare system is broken - far too many families struggle to afford healthcare, seniors are forced to make difficult choices regarding their healthcare, and small businesses are struggling with the escalating cost of healthcare and the associated premiums. We know Claire Naughton will work with her colleagues in the state legislature to reform the system so that all our residents can have quality healthcare.
Claire understands our town's struggle to pay for essential local services like police and fire and our property taxes continue to rise. We need a State Representative who will work hard to bring back this aid to our towns. We know Claire Naughton will fight to bring local aid back to our communities so that we can pay for essential services.
This election gives us the opportunity to decide what sort of state representative we want. The future of our schools, our police and fire departments, and our healthcare are at stake. That is why we are working hard to make sure that on Feb. 7, 2006 the First Bristol District elects Claire Naughton as its State Representative.
We trust Claire to stand up for the issues most important to our families and our communities. Please vote for Claire B. Naughton on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006.
